French Toast

Is it possible that I haven’t posted a recipe for one of my all-time favourite breakfasts*?!

It’s just plain crazy.

I love the simplicity of French toast.  It’s not hard to make.  It doesn’t require a ton of ingredients.  And you can use something that’s going stale.  I mean, when else can you use ingredients that are going bad and make something sooooo delicious?

French Toast:

  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind will do)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4-6 slices of fresh or slightly stale bread (depending on the size, thickness)
  • 1 tsp. butter

Mix together the milk, eggs, vanilla and salt in a pie plate (or something of a similar size).  Slice up your bread and lay it in the egg mixture.  Let it soak on each side for approximately 5 minutes.  Heat up your frying up coated in butter.  When it’s hot add in the bread and allow it to cook until golden brown on each side.  Serve up with butter and tons of maple syrup.

*It’s also super delicious for lunch…or dinner…

I think it’s the simple things we forget about. Why post that? Everyone already knows how to make that! But it’s fun to share what you love and I like the fact that you gave a new insight- use stale bread. I love french toast too!

Mmmmm your recipe is very similar to my recipe… I guess there’s just not much more to it than eggs and milk LOL! I think I’ll have this for brunch today!!! :D

We actually bake the bread for a few minutes to make it stale if it isn’t already! I love french toast.
