Making Room for Exercise
I love the feeling that exercise brings to my body, but if I’m being perfectly honest, I absolutely dread going to the gym to exercise. Once I’m there, it’s fine, but it’s hard to get there! Yoga is about the only one I don’t dread.
But the real problem is fitting it in to my schedule at all. My schedule is all over the map and each day is entirely different. And, it can change at a moment’s notice. As such, lately I’ve really had to consider how to make room for exercise in my life.
In the last week I’ve made a few conscious decisions to change the way exercise fits into my daily life:
- Instead of going to organized classes I opted to see how I could do my workouts at home. Sometimes this meant exercising with a DVD or one of the fitness videos I posted, checking out pinterest for ideas (search “fitness routine” or “exercise routine” for some great suggestions!), going for a brisk walk, or taking inspiration from Fitnessista’s workout plans. And quite frankly? Sometimes I just dedicated to “move” that day, whether it was big or small.
- I didn’t confine myself to doing it first thing in the morning, and instead let myself find whatever time worked on each particular day.
- I was okay with missing a workout when it happened. Sometimes the stuff you’ve got going on in life is more important than exercising (although staying fit is important!), and so letting it go once in a while isn’t something worth feeling guilty about.

So with that in mind, enjoy your exercise this week whenever it happens, and if it doesn’t? Don’t stress. Just try again another day!
