Live Long & Party

Remember long ago when I admitted to be a bit of a Trekkie?

Well, it was proven last night when I school everyone in the Star Trek trivia game at our church’s Star Trek party.

Yup, that’s right – we had a Star Trek party.

WAIT!  Please don’t close my blog yet!!!!

You’ll want to see the food I created for the theme…But first, a few pictures from the event:

Delicious potluck spread!  No less than 3 7-layer dips…heavenly!

Megan, our awesome trivia tester!

The group of Trekkies.

The amazing prizes for getting the trivia right!  I’m proud to admit I ate many of these little eggs.  Thanks to Naomi’s hand for modeling it!

And so the question begs to be asked, when invited to a Star Trek themed party, what kind of food do you bring?!  Well, I searched the internet for a few hours wondering what to do.  In the end, I decided on choosing food that Neelix made in Voyager and just making it out of regular stuff we all know and love without it looking all crazy and disturbing.

In the end I chose to make Porakan “deviled” Eggs and Sweet Leola Root Tart.  Now, if you know what I’m talking about in either of these cases, you’re a total Star Trek nerd like me.  If you don’t, it’s okay – because you’re going to love the recipes anyway!

Here’s a sneak peak:

Stay tuned this week for recipes!  And I promise, they may have been inspired by Star Trek, but they’re tasty on Earth too.
