Wooden Treasure Chest

I’m kinda glad that my parents waited until now to clean out their crazy-full storage room, because it’s given me the opportunity to collect a few fun treasures!

And no, I don’t mean the paraphernalia from Brownies

Or the crazy creepy decorative neck accessory made out of real minks…(I’m not even kidding – it was my great-grandmother’s – I wouldn’t even take a picture of it, it was sooo creepy.  But it looked like this if you’re curious.)

Or even the delightful pile of crafts that I seemingly made as a child…

Awww…

BUT, what I am referring to is this great wooden rolling pin from my great-grandmother (waaaay better than inheriting the creepy mink scarf):

This fabulous wooden cutting board from my great-great-Grandmother:

And this fun wooden peg game (you have to jump pegs and then get it down to 1 peg).  It’s funny because when we were away in Pennsylvania they had these on the table to use while waiting for our food, and Peter was enjoying trying to figure it out.  We reminisced about how we had one at our trailer (a summer RV, like going to a cottage) but we didn’t know where it was.  Well, now we do, and Peter can enjoy it ’til his heart’s content.

Do you have any fun wooden treasures?  Or perhaps fun, useful or creepy inherited items from family members?
